I tried to just find help on using Chrome to send links but now I am wondering if something specific is needed because I use Thunderbird.

The way to do what you want that works best and most consistently, no matter what programs or operating systems you use, is to copy & paste the webpage address from the web browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.), to your e-mail.

The webpage address will start with either http:// or https://. Look for that address at the top of your web browser. Select the entire line then using your keyboard hold down the Ctrl key and press the letter "C". This will copy that webpage address to the "clipboard" in the background of Windows.

Now in the e-mail you are writing, hold down the Ctrl key and press the letter "V". This will paste the contents of the "clipboard" where you are typing in the e-mail.
