One one mail account, login gives cryptic error, with no resolution.

Im an experienced user of Thunderbird on Windows and Mac for 10 years. I use the latest version on both platforms. I have 8 email accounts identical to both platforms. One of the accounts returns this error upon startup/login: password or username not valid in the headline of the error box, and a long cryptic message on the body portion of the error message (in the screen shot below)

This occurred in Thunderbird on the same mail account, on both platforms. However, direct login using outlook.com using the same ID and password logs in successfully. There is no setting I can see any problem in. This occurred at the same instant.

I am expecting some important mail on that account, it would be nice to fix this.
