links do not copy numbers for symbols starting with ^

I am using Yahoo Finance to view stock performance. When I save the link as a ".csv" file all symbols come through with their corresponding numbers, but one (^DJI) does not show its value. It used to be OK but not lately. Any ideas?

Could you explain the process a bit more: Are you:

  • clicking a button or following a link and the site automatically pushes the CSV file and that triggers a Download (Open/Save/Cancel) dialog
  • right-clicking a link to the CSV and using Save Link As
  • displaying the document in a tab first and then using Save Page As or another technique to save the CSV
  • doing something else

The first scenario should get you a clean download, or to put that another way, errors in a file that gets pushed to you and saved directly to disk are the fault of the website. The other scenarios have potential challenges to the integrity of the data, depending on how the site works.
