An interim finding: the moz-extension also appears when Firefox is in "normal" (not private) mode ......

And, yes, Awesome Screen Shot is v3.0.11, updated 5 August. Until yesterday, I had not used it since the new version. Quite a different UI and, I guess, in the software itself.

More than a week ago I emaied the "care" email address at Diigo with full details of this situation but have received no response.

Does anyone know of another, more useful, email address at Diigo?

Also, I can't find any way of emailing Mozilla to ask for their input. Can anyone help with that?

I appreciate knowing that there is no direct contactablility with Mozilla - makes it a bit hard.

I did a Refresh and checked the History before installing any Extensions. Therefore Awesome Screen Shot was not available. Nevertheless, the same line of History appeared as before. Strikes me that means the problem lies in Firefox .......

Scratching my head now on another course of action.

Thought I'd just complete the loop and let you know that a couple of days ago I had an email respnse from Awesome Screen Shot which said "The developer will fix it later. Please wait for some time.".

I guess that means we should not hold our collective or individual breaths ........

Taking a Screen shot; Windows > Start > search box > Snip. Select Snipping Tool. Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot. Save the picture(s) to your desktop. Now look at the Reply box below. Press the button under it that says Browse. Now select the screen-shot(s) from the desktop and load them one at a time.

(to much hussle to check if this solution was already mentioned, sorry!) For Mac -users with Time Machine I found this solution to elliminate the moz-extension etc: -Select user/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles -Time Machine: go as far back in time when you didn't have this problem -replace the Firefox Profiles from there with the present Profiles

I'm not operating a Mac system, rather a PC running Win 7. I have spent a bit of time trying to parallel your steps in the Win 7 environment but so far have not found something I can recognise as equivalent.

Any thoughts?

Incidentally, with the passage of time my Firefox version has now become 50.1.0.

RHills! I don't know how you should do that on a Windows. Time Machine (on a Mac) is a back-up program. You can back-up your computer as many times you wish, on an external HD. I do it once a week. So this ti,me a copied the Profiles-file from november 2016. On a Windows I assume the action could go the same way. But the condition must be: -you have an external HD on which -you back-up regulary your PC -try then to find the Profiles somewhere in the past and -replace your present Profiles-file by the one of the past. I hope that this is not a painful proof of the difference Windows-Apple (little joke!)

I likewise backup my libraries and key system elements each week but as my external HD is only 1TB I have to delete older files. I've just now checked and see that my backups date only from early September 2016 whereas this moz problem started in mid-August.

So I don't have a copy of the pre-moz Mozilla profile. Drat!!

RHills!! I discovered my method as described above doesn't work....That moz-extension etc-file pops up again...... Now I think I have discovered the cause, anyway with me. I did shut down all my add-ons. Than I started them one by one, everytime reshutting/restarting Firefox. Every add-on was OK, but....Ghostery gave me the problem!! I So I deleted Ghostery, and installed instead "DoNotTrackMe" which appears after installing as "Blur" and does the same as Ghostery. Hope this might be a help!
