Message reading pane font is too faint

I've tried the Options menu, changed fonts and still have a difficult to read message pane. I applied the Theme Font Size Changer add-in and everything else is fine - message index, newsgroups - only the reading pane has the faint text problem.

Ideas would be appreciated!

Is the text the wrong colour to read easily or is it semi-transparent? You should be able to set the colour in Options > Display > Formatiing. If that does no good, what about browser.display.foreground_color set to #000000 in about:config? http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config
