Thunderbird becomes unresponsive when I try to file emails in my local folder. Is there a soluiton?

when moving emails to storage the program becomes unresponsive and crashes. The delay to close and restart the program is time consuming and frustrating. A fix would be delightful or I may need to go to the bother of exporting to another program -- a shame because I like what Mozilla offers.

Probably your anti virus program. What do you use?

I don't! McAfee has been causing havoc with Thunderbird for about 3 years. Version after version.
