When signing on to Tbird (31.2.0 on windows Vista Business sp2 bld# 6002) I get two screens - one my normal email home page and a second overlapping Gmail log on display screen. It looks like two Tbird screens are opened at the same time but each a separate Tbird screen I can toggle between.

When I close the gmail log on everything else works as normal - ie. no sync issues.

How do I eliminate the double screen sign on?

got a calendar that has just stopped working?

Yes, now that you mentioned it.

So I deleted sharing the Google calendar from my Tbird and tried to re-establish it but it will not allow the link - red box with the next button greyed out. Good news is the gmail login screen has disappeared when starting up Tbird.

So it appears to be linked to the Google calendar, but what do I do now to get back to sharing the calendar?

You blog was helpful to try a different approach. Unfortunately I can't make it work for me. I didn't try your config.editor part as I'm not proficient in the editor.

Before all this happened I had certs appear when signing on and I just accepted them - is it possible that this may have had an effect or is it a red herring?

Have a lash at the config edit. That is the most important part really without it you machine is talking the equivalent US English and Google Chinese English. It almost wqorks but there are enough differences that everyone usually ends up confused. It is not difficult as yuo just type the entry and set it. Despite the warning "there be dragons here" not all that risky. Especially like in this instance there your setting something from true to false. It is not like you have to type in a huge arcane set of gibberish, which is how I feel editing the windows registry

If you have looked at this article you will see that it is just a one line editor.

OK checked my config edit line shown in your blog out and was already set as false. So changes needed.

Noticed that my calendar address looks nothing like the one in your blog.

My XML is shown as https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/something%40gmail.com/public/basic. Checked that Caldav is enabled and it is checked.

set up new calendars in Lightning as networked and Caldav with address above. But doesn't appear to be syncing.

any thoughts would be appreciated.

see that bit in the middle where is says something@gmail.com. You did replace that with your email address, or the correct6 URL as shown in the vireo didn't you? I don't think you did or you would not have posted it here as is.

I understand you have to ask the obvious question, but yes I used my email address. The note I sent you - I edited the line by replacing my email address with the convention you used in your blog.

Strangely, when first setting up the new calendar in Lightning - the check box would not remain checked to enable viewing of the calendar. After several tries it now remains checked.

So the good news is where before I couldn't even get the calendar address to be input, it now accepts the address that I put in, which is much different than yours. I did try to enter the address you showed in your blog (with if course my Google email address) but have the same result that no syncing is happening. I did change the update flag to within a minute from 30 min.

So just to summarize - in creating the new calendar - 1. choose network, 2. choose CalDav format and put the address copied from my Google calendar setup (as per my previous note) for location 3. gave the new calendar a name and 4. and on the next panel which showed my correct email address hit the finish button. As mentioned I have the refresh on every minute and the caldav enablement in google calendar using your link shows the box checked (although greyed - which I assume is a default for the basic calendar for the email address). it looks like additional calendars can be checked or not checked. Finally when nothing shows on my lightning calendar I choose sync calendars, which appears to try and sync at the bottom of the screen but nothing shows up when finished.
