I have been having problems with slow boot-up of TB versions 31 (release) and 33 (beta). I was experimenting with the about:_________ commands to try to correct the problem. After typing in about:memory I saw a command box that read something like: fix memory problems. When I clicked on this option TB slowed down even more. I cannot figure out how to reverse this action and now when I click on TB the screen goes foggy and hangs for a couple of seconds before painting the screen. Can anyone help me reverse my mistake? Thanks in advance.

fix memory problems

I don't think such a 'command box' exists. You'd need to be more specific about what you did.

My AV is Bitdefender free. Following are the steps I took:

In Thunderbird 33-Help-Troubleshooting Information-Memory Use-about:memory-GC CC Minimize Memory Usage I clicked on Minimize Memory and that is when the trouble started.

By pressing 'Minimize Memory Usage' no configuration settings are changed, so there isn't really something to be fixed.

Try to start *Windows* in safe mode with networking enabled.

- Win7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode.
