When I send an email, it won't put a copy in my "Sent" folder, can I fix this?
I have selected to put a copy in my "Sent" folder, and occasionally it will do it just, blip, blip, almost instantly. Then most of the time it spends a minute or two trying to put a copy in the sent folder, says there was an error in doing so do I want to "try again", but trying again doesn't work. Only way to get rid of the "write" page is to say don't try. I hope somebody knows how to fix that. I'd sure like to. It seems to have actually sent the message, but no copy in the sent folder to assure me of that. If I put my own address with another email handler and the Bcc checked, I get the sent message, but still no copy in my sent folder. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, D.Fox

I have a solution. I kept looking and trying different things. I had selected the default choice to "Place a copy in: [my email account]. Eventually I found at the end of the "box" the down arrow and it opened other choices. It is accessed this way: Click on your email account; Accounts; View settings for this account; Copies & Folders; (checked box)Place a copy in: [Now, don't select the default, but go to down arrow, it opens a drop down box that includes "Local Folders"] check that line. (I did not have a "Sent" folder under my Local Folders. BUT the next time I "sent" an email, it created the Sent folder and put a copy therein. Not being too swift, I am guessing that it gets me off the "server" and only on my local folders. Anyway, I now get a "Copy" of all sent emails, and that right quickly. I would recommend trying this to see if it solves your problem too!! Hope this is helpful to others. Thanks, everybody..... D.Fox

No you're not doing anything wrong. Thunderbird looses the ability to move messages to folders on some random schedule. For me it usually only happens once every 10 days or so though I did go through a period where it was happening daily. Others have it happen all the time. There have been lots of threads spread out over months. Many people post that they did "something" and "something" it fixed it, but a few days later they come back and say "Whoops - spoke too soon!".
I think all we can do is hope someone finds it and fixes it someday.
