URL bar malfunction in Firefox 29.0.1

Hello, I use OSX Mavericks and when my Firefox autoupdated to version 29.0.1 I started experiencing malfunctions with my url bar on most websites. I tried restarting Firefox several times and this had no effect.

When I open a blank tab, it looks fine and I can paste in a new URL, but then the url bar immediately disappears and in its place I see a bunch of symbols which are not click-able. The URL is no longer accessible and I cannot click the back button or interact with any of the symbols. This occurs for gmail, wordpress, and most sites aside from social media, I have noticed.

Do you have an extension named RSS Icon? Some users have reported that the address is changed to symbols when this extension is Enabled.

You can check your installed extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Command+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions.
