I would like to prevent firefox from upgrading to the next version, as in the past all my addons including greasemonkey were gone, and it was quite painful to get settings back.

Here's what to do:

  1. Click 'Firefox' > 'Options' > 'Options' or 'Tools' > 'Options' if you don't have the Firefox button
  2. Click the 'Advanced' heading/tab
  3. Click the 'Update' tab
  4. Select 'Never check for updates' and click the 'OK' button to finish
