Lots of folders had disappeared from my inbox, but now suddenly returned marked in blue- what is that?

More than a year ago I noticed that several folders had disappeared from my inbox - all folders starting with characters following "L". Today suddenly, these folders have reappeared, but they were marked in blue. I wonder what happened before and what has happened to make them reappear now?
