Why is it that when I use google to search most sites end in UK?

Mozilla (the makers of Firefox) don't control the ranking of sites on Google.
Think of Firefox as a delivery service that gets information from servers for you. When you make a search, you are requesting information from Google, which Firefox shows you.
However, you can tell Google what country you are in by scrolling to the bottom of the search results page, and pressing Update Location. This will hopefully give you more relevant results, at the cost of Google knowing where you are located more accurately.
