paper size keeps on returning to Letter, although I use A4 paper.
It would be easier to understand if there was actually a paper size setting, but there isn't. The alternative of changing settings on three different printers to get back to A4 seems ridiculous to me and I don't have 3 printers to circulate among. Why is Mozilla convinced everyone wants Letter size as default? Sorry about the grumps, but there you are.

Interesting... Post a screenshot and let us see what options you're seeing. I'll go see what I get when printing from my old mac running 10.13.6. Here is what I get on linux when printing this page as a test. see screenshot
I get the dialog box for my Brother DCP 1602 printer, so maybe it's the printer driver that is doing this.
Which is why I wanted to see what you're seeing. Here is what I see on my old mac. see screenshot
My Mac is new and on my old one I didn’t have this problem. As I didn’t have my other problem, either, of some security gizmo - some remaining scrap of Avira that Avira's suggested command on Terminal doesn't fix permanently - slowing down or interrupting completely the loading of Mozilla, so just a blank Firefox window comes up. But back to the printer problem, unlike in Safari, I get the attached window when I go to "print using the system dialog", from the first print interface.
