the translate icon does not show and it's not in the menu either

For me, the address bar button and the right-click context menu item only show on pages that Firefox detects as being in a language it knows how to translate. In cases where Firefox didn't detect that it's a foreign language page, "Translate page..." is available on the main menu.

There might be settings to modify that.

found the setting in AI controls, it was set to disable
