I cannot alphabetize my folders,

magiclg replied

My folders are in disarray and it is cutting into my productivity to file emails. I have tried but it in settings but it doesn't work. Many are in alpha order but there are 2 different two different sections of the same name, and some odd files end up in an alphabetized section.

For instance there are 2 different ZBV sections with other stray folders in the same area that should be in there own alpha folder area. It's a mess to find the right folder. I have to scroll up and own and look for the folder I need to file in. I would be happy to donate, and i have in the past, but I really need this to get fixed. Please, please, please...

Starting sometime in the version 15x.x series of releases (I forget which one) a new feature was introduced, "Reset Folder Order". It will reorder your folders in alphabetic order, although "special" folders like Inbox, Trash, Sent, etc. will remain at the top. The feature can be found by right-clicking on the account name in the Folders List pane and choosing "Reset Folder Order".

Prior versions don't have this feature, but you can still manually reorder by drag-and-drop.

Hi Lin, Thank you for your suggestion. I tried that but it didn't work. I have way too many folder to drag and drop unfortunately. I tried that with a few previously, and then they went back to where they were the next time I opened thunderbird. It's frustrating.

Quite some time ago AOL worked on my email program as they were the server at the time, and they set up 3 accounts that they couldn't change after what they did. So I have "old mail" and 2 sent folders, 2 trash folders etc. Now that I have followed your suggestion everything has moved to new areas in the folder pane. I appreciate the suggestion, but it's still a mess. I think I need to integrate the 2 sections but I don't know how.
