How do i change my primary address to a new valid address?
My Mozilla log-in address is an old one - I have changed my email provider from xxxxxxx@TalkTalk.net to xxxxxxx@outlook.com. Although I can still get into Mozilla I can't change my log-in to make other updates. The advice provided is to make a new extra login and then make that one the primary but it does not work.

Hi
What happens when you follow the guidance at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-primary-email-address-firefox-accounts ?

This requires an extra log-on which asks for a 6 digit code to be entered. This code is sent to my old email address which is defunct (I moved email provider) and is used as a second stage verification. As I can't read the email sent to me (it's closed) I can't use it. On other software by other companies you can ask for the code to be sent to a mobile phone and manually copy it to the Mozilla checking box.
I do not have a secondary email address which is still active registered with Mozilla which presumably fixes this problem but this isn't available. When I originally set this up it wasn't requested!
Can you login to https://accounts.firefox.com ? Try to configure 2FA.
Otherwise just create a new account with a new email address.
I've done a little bit of research here to find out why this problem is an issue...
In my searches I found post from "simon42" posted back in 2020 which has never been responded to. Simon is quite correct, the issue lies in the way the security is applied to this software. To be fair, the logic of applying the two step validation, does preclude the user's ability to change the primary email address if there is no secondary address available. It is impossible to understand why this should be; most similar systems simply ask for the new ID email account and then verify the owner by using his/her mobile phone number to return a 6 digit code to confirm a link with the new and old ID emails.
The only way I can see around this, apart from re-writing the program, is to simply delete the membership completely and start anew with a fresh membership. This is rather unnecessary however - better to revise the software!
If I've missed the point, please let me know.
