It is usually the same as your incoming password. You can see what you told Thunderbird to remember by going to Options-Security-Passwords-Saved Passwords. Click Show passwords. You can right click and select Edit to change what you want Thunderbird to remember. To actually change the password to your email account you have to work with your email provider.
thank you but I still need help:' my outgoing password is not the same as my incoming password.
I did not tell thunderbird to remember
I want to actually change password for my outgoing, and I am indeed trying to work with thunderbird. However I cannot send to thunderbird, because I cannot send out an email with thunderbird
If you did not tell Thunderbird to remember your have nothing to change in Thunderbird. Email passwords are administered with your email provider. You work with them to change passwords.
If you never told Thunderbird to remember your password and you forgot it, how have you been checking your email?
I can get me incoming email fine. I have my password for incoming. But my outbound password is different.
Since mid January, I am unable to send email from thunderbird. Unfortunately, I've had to use gmail, and I want to use thunderbird
I can send an email to myself at my thunderbird email, however I cannot send out email to anyone.
Gmail uses the same password for both inbound and outbound. What make you think yours are different?
My gmail is fine.
I am looking for help for Thunderbird. My thunderbird inbox email is ok, I have an email that works for inbox. However, I cannot send an email from thunderbird. I need help to reset thunderbird email for outbound emails.
We are not getting anywhere. Your passwords are administered with your email provider. Apparently gmail.
The same password works for both incoming and outgoing email.
Thunderbird cares less what your password is. It provides the password you saved or tells you when the server requests it and you enter it.
There is no such thing as a Thunderbird email so I have no idea how you sent yourself an email there. Email accounts come from email providers. Thunderbird is not a provider. It is email client software running on your computer that help you manage actually accounts you have established with a provider.
How about starting over an give the details of you problem without your misguided assumptions of what you need to do?
Also post your Thunderbird troubleshooting information.
To to that go to the help menu in THUNDERBIRD. Click Troubleshooting Information. Then click Copy to Clipboard Com back here and paste that info into a reply window.
