Is there a way to auto-reply once only per email address?

I've setup a filter rule to auto-reply to emails while I am on holidays and this works well. However, there are some businesses who will continue to have me on a cc list or in a team distribution list.

The idea is to only send an out of office reply once. I think Outlook does that from memory.

Is there a way to do it in Thunderbird or is this currently not do-able within the Thunderbird base product or via extension/addon?

Running Version 138.0.1 64bit.

That is why I recommended folk use the facilities their email provider offers for an out of office response when I wrote the support article some 10 or 15 years ago. Outlook does offer it you recall that correctly. It uses the facilities of the Microsoft Exchange server email system to offer the feature.

Basically using a filter can be done, but it is a far from best practice as you have found. I do not recommend even trying.

I am sure that most if not all of those links are no longer functional, it was like 2012 when I wrote that and the article history would indicate nothing major updated since 2014. But I did just check the google one and it does still work.
