Hi,

I've recently upgraded to the 91 version and the order of the account folders have changed. i.e. the email folders and the off-line personal folders are no longer in their previous order. How would I change the order.

I tried moving them, but they return to their original position after every reboot of thunderbird 91.

Additionally, is there any good docs about folder paths to learn more about archiving or default settings.

Thanks,

Check you have this View:

  • Menu app icon > View > Folders > All
  • Menu app icon > View > Threads > All

Folders should appear in this order for each account - all the standard default folders - Inbox, Drafts, Templates, Sent,Archives, Junk, Trash - followed by all folders you created in alphabetical order.

The mail account name folder at the top will be the default account. If you want a different account at the top:

  • Right click on mail account name folder in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'

'Account Settings' opens in new tab.

  • Select the name of the account in left pane
  • Click on 'Account Actions'
  • Select 'Set as default'
  • Restart Thunderbird.

To change order of accounts, go to Tools>accounts and in left side bar, hold shift key and drag account names up or down as desired.

Thanks for the suggestion,

I tried it and did not find "accounts" listed in the tools or dev tools. Additionally, I can't move any folder/account with the shift function as you mentioned? Are you using a different version of thunderbird perhaps?

Thanks,

I am using the Windows version, so your menu options may be different if using another OS. In Windows, the structure is Tools>Account Settings and accounts are listed in left sidebar. I am using 91.8.1.

hi, i just solved this (after a long time of not figuring it out!) using thunderbird 91.11.0 on Ubuntu 22.04.1.

go to Edit > Account settings

here in the side bar you can drag the accounts to reorder them. you then need to restart firefox to see the changes.
