How to get my SmartCard reader to be recognized for FIDO purposes on my macOS Big Sur

I am using Firefox on macOS Big Sur and trying to authenticate myself using the Yubico 5 NFC key using a Smartcard reader.

For some reason when I go to demo.yubico.com/u2f I can only see there are options either to use touchID or insert the USB key into the USB port but there are no options to tap the key on a USB NFC reader.

The same works just fine on a Windows 10 but for some reason not on the macOS Big Sur.

Are there some settings that I need to do in the browser so that it understands I need to use a USB Smart Card reader and not to insert the key?

On the macOS Big Sur the device does get recognized on the NFC Tools for Desktop native application so I know macOS is able to recognize my device.
