The emails in my inbox older than 1/1/2014 suddenly disappeared. How can I get them back please?

My other Tbird folders and sub-folders still have all their emails from all past years (going back to approx 2011), but in my main inbox, all emails prior to 1/1/2014 are gone. Thank you for your help.
