I have the latest FF 45.0.1 and the latest IE 11 for Win 7 11.0.9600.18163. IE is prompting me to install the latest FF.

Sorry for the confusion. I rarely ever use IE, mostly FF . Lately however my connection on FF seems a bit slow when switching from one favorite to another favorite. The message I get is " FF is running but is not responding " The old FF process must be closed to open a new window."

Am I getting this message because I DONT have the latest FF version on IE ?

I'm a newbie, thanking you in advance for your assistance.

Greetings Fred and than you for the response. Perhaps I'm not understanding or I didn't post my question in a very intelligent manner. My fault for sure. Let me try again...

Is it necessary to install the latest Fire Fox on Internet Explorer ?

IE is a web browser integrated on your Windows 7 and is only for the Windows OS.

The desktop Firefox is available for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux as you can see on www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ .

The Firefox web browser on Windows is a separate application from any other web browsers as it is not a shell or such for say IE or any other application on Windows.

Is there a reason why you think Firefox installs onto IE on Windows?

Because when I open up Internet Explorer it says in the upper right hand corner....

                               INSTALL THE NEW FIRE FOX

All I am asking is...is it necessary to install the NEW FIRE FOX on Internet Explorer? Yep or nope

I think that is an ad from whatever web page IE was on.

It is NOT telling you to install Firefox onto IE but suggesting you to download the Firefox setup and install it on Windows.

Firefox is not a IE shell as is explained at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Explorer_shell

Got to be careful though as the official places to download Firefox browser from is mozilla.org urls like www.mozilla.org or www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ as there is no guarantee something is not bundled in with Firefox at random unofficial download sites.
