Am using Thunderbird 38.0 Beta and trying to set the program to start automatically when my computer is turned on without success.

Chosen solution

The bigger issue is Thunderbird startup tends to be IO intensive, and so is Windows startup. Add in the incredible load of starting antivirus software and you have a recipe for much longer (non-linear) Windows startup times. The typical issue most users encounter in this situation is Thunderbird timing out and giving Unresponsive Script warnings.

Same way you do any other program. You add it to your start folder. There may be a problem with doing this if Thunderbird opens before your network connection is established. Thunderbird will go offline and you will have to place it back online. I am not sure you will be gaining much.
