firefox version 24.0.0.5 1 am unable to launch from start menu of xp, updated yesterday

It seems the underlying links of the Start and Shortcut icons are corrupted because they are unable to invoke the FireFox programs to load. I updated Firefox yesterday and it ran well with the restart option after installing When I brought up the system today I encountered this problem. If I may have to re-download and re-install Firefox? must I uninstall my current programs?

Just install Firefox again over the version you have.
