How do I STOP MS EDGE from making itself my default browser?
Hi! :)
Recently on bootup MS EDGE loads instead of my beloved Firefox. I did not install EDGE as I really dislike it! I know how to close it and again make Firefox my default browser, but can't I make EDGE stop loading in the first place? I have to reset Firefox as my default browser every day! Dell Desktop computer, Win 10 Pro (No, it doesn't qualify), 16 gigs of ram, 500 meg SSD Please tell me what else you need to know. This is kind of a little thing but it's driving me nuts! LOL

First, try clicking the Windows Start Menu and go to Settings and select the Apps section. Within the Apps section choose Default Apps. Then, look for the Browser option and make sure it is set to Firefox if it is not.
Next, what I also did since I didn't want Edge starting up when the system booted, I went into the Task Manager (CTRL-SHIFT-ESC) and went to the Startup tab and Disabled Edge there.
Currently I don't see it in my list because I think I found a setting in Edge to not make it start at boot time. That was a long time ago that I did the above. Don't know much Edge has changed since.
I went looking around and found this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/stop-microsoft-edge-from-starting-automatically-c341c879-799a-dccd-d6be-bc51ecdd5804 and I checked my setting for this and it is off.
Hopefully some of this helps.

Hi MarkRH!
Yes, I had gone into my Win 10 settings and made sure Firefox was set as my default browser, but Edge kept changing it every time I rebooted.
I already had everything turned off in Startup in Task Manager. I always keep it like that. Kind of brutal that way. LOL
I'll check this article and see how I do. I'll let you know!
Thank you so much, so far! And Happy Thanksgiving!
