Firefox Nightly now demands a choice of container for new tab

Up until the latest Firefox Nightly release, I could click on the '+' to open a new tab and immediately start typing the URL. Now, however, I am required to select a container type, something that is useless to me. Is there a way to disable this?

UPDATE: Never mind, I found the setting for Enable Container Tabs, which needs to be deselected. Why is this an opt-out?

pccobbler, do you use the Firefox Multi-Account Containers add-on? Or any add-on that enables containers? I wonder if this might be related to one of them, rather than Firefox itself.

If you select Troubleshoot Mode… from the Help menu, does this still occur?

@TechHorse

Thanks for the reply.

The only add-on I use is uBlock Origin. I must admit, containers are not my thing.

Interesting about troubleshoot mode, as it does turn off the offending behavior. I'm not sure what that's worth.

pccobbler, this suggests several possibilities, such as your add-on being involved.

you can read about Troubleshoot Mode here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode

In particular, you may wish to read the section titled "The problem does not happen in Troubleshoot Mode", and hopefully this will lead to a solution.
