Did you previously had a problem that made you start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode ?

When Firefox is started in Troubleshoot Mode then you will notice that the Help menu shows "Turn Troubleshoot Mode Off".

To get out of troubleshoot mode, you have to restart the browser. Use the exit command in the menu or the keyboard shortcut and wait for, say 30 seconds, before relaunching.

To get out of More from Mozilla, use the back button or click on one of the other headings in the left panel.

Make sure you do not hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox as that makes Firefox start in Troubleshoot Mode.

I deleted FF (except for a backup profile) and installed it from scratch. It works fine now. Troubleshoot Mode was of no help.

cor-el - Moderator - Top 10 Contributor I did not hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox (that makes Firefox start in Troubleshoot Mode).

Terry - please note "If you start FF ..." sentence. "This article describes why Firefox may start in Troubleshoot Mode (previously known as Firefox Safe Mode) when you expect it to start normally, and how to fix the problem. See the "Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode" article for information about using this special startup mode to fix Firefox problems. If you started Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode, it will remain in Troubleshoot Mode until Firefox is completely closed. The easiest way to make sure Firefox is completely closed is to restart your computer. Once your computer starts up again, start up Firefox.

cor-el - Moderator - Top 10 Contributor Since then, I have read many of the "troubleshoot" posts: 1. Maybe try to find out the level of knowledge someone has before offering a bunch of articles to read and especially before telling them to use Troubleshoot Mode. 2. Not everyone seems to be able to discern when they have returned from "troubleshoot" mode. After getting out of "troubleshoot" mode and before restoring my profile - I can see why, the backgrounds are just grey. Could there be some type of message (maybe at the top of the application menu) that says clearly "troubleshoot mode"?

I had several problems over a few days : first "Clear History" kept hanging, then tabs would crash, and then FF crashed. Looked for support using Bing - but "Troubleshoot Mode" was not any help. I deleted FF (except for a backup profile) and installed it from scratch.

Great answer: When Firefox is started in Troubleshoot Mode then you will notice that the Help menu shows "Turn Troubleshoot Mode Off". This might have helped me at that time. I did try it, can't remember the result now. I think, by that time, my eyes were blurry and I decided to go for the "is it plugged in" option! I can tell you there are many people looking for this answer!

Thanks for the reply!

I have another question: "Basic help still needed, really still needed!" If you would take a look at it.
