When I drag a file from my desktop to my browser, the browser crashes but does not give me an error message. How do I fix this?

If I drag a file from an explorer window or from the desktop into the Firefox window frame (in order to upload it, such as an email attachment or a YouTube video upload), Firefox crashes and does not give an error message. If I reopen Firefox, the problem does not reproduce. Firefox works as it should. If I reboot the PC, the problem comes back. I have the most up to date version of Firefox and Windows 10 Pro. My add-ons are ublock origin, privacy badger, disconnect, honey, privacy, https everywhere, Reddit Enhancement Suite, Amazon Affiliate Linkerizer, and Google Translator for Firefox.

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted/Unsubmitted Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Thank you for the quick response, Seburo. There are no submitted crash reports logged. The only two unsubmitted crash reports are from Nov 25, 2019. The report IDS are

I attempted to report them just now and got a "Failed" reply. Though these crashes are probably not related and I don't remember them.

If it helps, I can record my screen with OBS and capture the event and upload a video of it.

Does Firefox work properly if you use File > Open File or {Ctrl + O} to locate that file and use Open button after highlighting the file (that you want Firefox to open) in the Windows 10 OS, instead of dragging the file into the Firefox browser window?

the-edmeister, yes. It opens files just fine. If I use the open dialogue either to open a file or to uplod a file, there's no issues. it's only the act of dragging the file into the window frame that firefox can't handle.

Could be related to the currently used launcher process.

Possibly there is information about the crash in the Windows 10 Event Viewer, Applications log. Those details often are too cryptic to be helpful to forum volunteers, but sometimes you find a more unique error code that returns helpful search results, or the name of a particular program or DLL file Firefox conflicted with.
