i look in my task manager and see 6 firefox running
It is quite normal to see three or more Firefox processes running.
- one process for the main Firefox thread (user interface)
- one or more content processes, see:
Options/Preferences -> General -> Performance
remove checkmark: [ ] "Use recommended performance settings"
- one process for the compositor thread
- one process for the WebRender thread when this feature is enabled
You can find the current multi-process state on the Troubleshooting Information page (about:support).
- "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" -> "Application Basics":
See also the Remote Processes section further down for more detail.
how do i stop this from running every time
You can use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar to make sure Firefox closes properly.
- "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
- Windows: File -> Exit
- Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
- Linux: File -> Quit
ok now i have another question I have just refreshed my firefox got a new profile but i can not drag and drop to the desk top even with plugins and extensions disabled i do however delete parent lock from the profile and now can not get it back i can not drag any link from firefox to my dektop
i have send to desktop enabled
i try to do this and it will not drop to the desktop i try dragging the lock part to the desk top and it will not drop to the desktop so i can not get the icon to drop on the desktop to any site
i used to be able to click on the green lock box or the circle with the i in it to drag to deskltop
I am able to drag and drop links with Google and ie to the desk top but i can not with firrefox it loos as if it is going to go but it does not go, I can sit it trying to move but when i release the mouse it does not go. i have an extention open in IE and have to get ashort cut that way
and can do it with google I am not sure if it is my desktop or if it is an add on but it will not let me drag it and droo it to the desktop. I can get it if i click save pahe as but ti des not come up with the actual link it comes up asa mozilla link
Issues with dragging a link to the Desktop can happen if you made changes to the UAC settings. Try to launch Firefox with the -no-deelevate command line switch.
See also -no-deelevate:
is there a way to disable the launcher process. with out activating UAC. and what isdeleevate and where do i find it
I am not that computer savvy so i am not sure i fully understand what to do
-no-deelevate is a command line switch that you would have to add to the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (leave space before the switch). "<path to firefox>\firefox.exe" -no-deelevate
thanks for trying to explain but i do not understand this. I usually have UACto do not notify me. i keep it that way.But I was able in earlier version t drsg and drop with UAC at do not notify. I tried it and di enable it and it did work but i put it back all the way down again. The coomand prompt thing i do not understand can you show me an example of what to do for the no dee elevate and is there a way to to diaable thelauncher process. mine is enabled
