How can I restore my old home screen in Quantum? I miss my speed dial.

I had customized it for 4 rows of 6 columns, each website pinned to its slot, and did most of my browsing straight from there. The new home page offers five slots for "top sites" and an enormous field of blank space (I am simply uninterested in pockets, highlights, snippets, etc and have removed them instantly). What are the controls in about:config that will let me return to an approximation of my old home page?

The new browser experience is great overall and I love Mozilla. However... I am going to need my speed dial back...

Hi, goto about:config and double click on these booleans: browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.aboutHome.enabled browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled to set them to false, this will restore your old new tab page.

quantum is faster though - old firefox was woefully slow when multiple tabs open, so i dont want to roll back. i just want speed dials. Do we have to wait a few weeks for someone to write an addon to bring back the speed dial home page?

I have my speed dials back. I followed Ruby75 advice on how to download an older version of Firefox, then went into About:Config and turn off automatic update. Thanks Ruby75. B

I'm happy for you! But this didn't work for me.... it only gave me a blank tab.

I actually like the FVD Speed Dial.... I just want my SAVED sites back. I had 3 pages, 1 for home business, 1 for clients, and 1 more personal, all filled 4x3 with websites relevant for each.

I can re-create them as I need that particular website, and just save it to the new speed dial app. I JUST DON'T WANT TO.

And I should NOT HAVE TO. The ones I have should not have been yanked from me without warning! Mozilla, Firefox.... this is bigger than you realized! FIX. IT.

You might try Waterfox or another of the Firefox clones. They will accept the speed dial. If you backed it up it will possibly appear. For bookmarks, try moving them to another browser I had success with Opera migrating all of the bookmarks.

Next time Mozilla warn us and tell us what we need to do to keep out references. Bookmarks do not function like pages of speed dial. Most of us have made the browser ourown and resent some developer thinking for us. save your bright ideas in a add-on area for us to apply ,if we so choose.!

What do you mean by "Update:fixed first boolean!"  ?

I have followed the instructions as best I understand them but no success

Tried Everything.

Doesn't work in Mobile firefox.

Boolean doesn't exist in mobile. So created them. Still no go.
