Since a while Thunderbird stops downloading big attachments at 5Mb. Its cuts off the download (jpeg/docx/pdf) so it is incomplete. Also there is an error message that the command DELE did not succeed @mailserver. I checked providers, modem, firewall and settings but can't find any solution. Win10, Thunderbird 52.1.0 Any clues?

Funny, the problem disappeard after 8 months. No, not a Thunderbird update. The only thing I changed is downloading the mail using ssl/tls. A second account with the same problem also is ok since I dowload mail using ssl/tls. Beats me, but I'm happy everything works fine now. Thanks for all your help! '

Do you have a setting in 'Account Settings which limits the size of messages?

right click on mail account in Folder Pane and select: 'Settings' If POP: select: 'Disc Space' If IMAP: Select 'Synchronisation & Storage'

To save space, do not download: uncheck 'Messages larger than xx KB' OR increase the size. click on OK

Thank you, but no, this checkbox is unchecked, so there is no limit to the size of the message.

No. I already tried this workaround. Unfortunately it did not help.

The provider suggests to increase the time out for the pop server. Could that help and which command do I need?

Lets look at the obvious... do you have an anti virus scanning email? If so turn the feature off and see what happens.
