When I use back button in FF, it displays an older version of the page

When I'm reading an online news site (it happens with a lot of them), I click on an article and then when I click on the FF back button to go back to the home page, FF displays an older version of it (ie one I had been looking at the previous day). I need to refresh it to show current version again. Thought this was caused by Ghostery addon at first but I've disabled it and it's still happening.

That's strange... do you recall when you first noticed this problem?

Firefox is fairly aggressive about caching and this can lead to some glitches. Could you try turning off the feature that tries to save time redrawing the page?

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste sess and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers preference and change the value from -1 to 0 (that's a zero).

Then reload the problem page.

It may take some time to discover whether it is making a difference.

Can you confirm that this is not about Firefox for Android as the thread is tagged as such?

Clear the cache and cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can also try to reset (power off/on) the router.

Please update to the current Firefox 27 release.

The Firefox 24 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates.

  • It is important to update Firefox and add-ons to the latest version to get all security fixes.

Tried this but didn't see any difference. I tried it with rte.ie and bbc.co.uk sites and had same problem.

Confirming that this problem is with Android FF. I'm running the latest version.

I tried doing "Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced >" but couldn't find these settings, ie there's no options under FF > Tools
