As of late a blinking line akin to MS Word's has appeared in all text in firefox, even when uneditable. Its hard to scroll with arrow keys now, how do i disable

How do i disable this problem? i recently installed ghostery if this is part of that somehow.

You may have Caret Browsing on, turn it off by hitting F7.
