I'd like to get rid of the favicons in my bookmarks bar, but none of the instructions I've tried so far has actually worked. MacOS 10, Firefox 9x
I tried switching to text only , but that takes away *all* icons, not just the "favicons". I also switched the display to "false" but that didn't work either.

You can also add code to userChrome.css below the default @namespace line.
The customization files userChrome.css (interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the user profile folder.
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */
#personal-bookmarks .bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-icon { display:none!important; }
