Tunderbird email started working again on Monday, 8/24 and I
believe it was a Charter/Spectrum issue, since like Jill, when I called their tech support there was a recording while I was on hold to speak to a person, that they were experiencing issues with Window based email clients and were working on it. Once I got through to a person they just repeated the same thing and told me to use webmail. So T-bird has been working fine for a couple of days now and I'll keep my fingers crossed! I also intend to ask Spectrum for a credit for all the nonsense!

Thunderbird has stopped working again for me. Anyone else experiencing this?
I am again having trouble with Thunderbird to Charter.net again. I had changed mailnews.tcptimeout in thunderbird from 100 to 250 as suggested by David and it worked for a few days, but for some reason it got changed back to 100. So I changed it back to 250 and thunderbird still loops trying to connect. Two questions: 1. why did this setting revert to 100? 2. why does 250 not work now?

Some years ago someone gave me the procedure to capture IMAP traces of email actions that provided very good information about what was actually transmitted and received by Thunderbird over the net. Since then something changed or I lost the information when I upgraded my PC or in software upgrades. If there is anyone that has a copy of this procedure will you please send me a copy. Thanks.

My Thunderbird client via charter.net has begun working again, with mailnews.tcptimeout still set to 250. I have not tried resetting it back to 100.

My Thuunderbird client via charter.net is again failing. Via Thundermail is working and has been working fine. I am still in the process of getting my address changed on all of the websites I have my old email address on and this is creating problems for me. Does anyone have any neat and cleaver trick for doing this?
Try checking your internet connection and verify the incoming/outgoing server settings in Thunderbird. Also make sure your email password is correct. If the problem continues restart Thunderbird and check for any error message.
Working fine yesterday, but this morning, 9/6, Thunderbird email was again failing to connect to my Spectrum server. Called their tech support and escalated the issue to a Supervisor who said there was no known issue on their end for Thunderbird not connecting. This is unlike last time when there was a recording while on hold to speak to an agent that acknowledged an issue with third party email clients. Supervisor encouraged me to use Spectrum webmail, which I am not a big fan of. Looks like this is also happening to some other Spectrum users on this forum. Any suggestions?
Same here. Same story. Very frustrating. How can it be that no one knows of any issues? It just does not make sense.

I'm having the same problem and have had it for a couple weeks now. The replies so far sound like the typical support blame game, Not my fault, not my fault... and no solution offered. Sounds more like a Thunderbird issue to me if it occurred with the recent update! I will try another email client and see if this issue persists there, that will tell us where the problem lies, possibly
They will not even acknowledge there is a problem, so we hit a dead end. Them: Too bad, use the webmail. That is it. Are they doing this deliberately to do away with email or do they just not think it is a problem worth looking into? If we knew they were working on it, that be some relief, but we have nothing from them on it
It's a miracle! Finally connected yesterday, 9/8, with a customer service agent at Spectrum who took the time to fully understand what was happening and to submit a 'ticket' up the chain to resolve the issue and behold this morning, 9/9, my emails started coming through again in T-bird from the Spectrum server. I explained the issue seemed to be arising with those who's emails ended in 'charter.net'. I also explained how the problem had occurred a couple of weeks ago, had been acknowledged by Spectrum and then corrected only to have it fail again on 9/5. Hopefully this fix will stick.
Out again.
Ditto
Just got off the phone with Spectrum and was told the lack of connectivity is once again a known issue their engineers are working on. No time frame for a resolution; was just advised to check periodically to see if T-bird is working. Over the top frustrating to say the least!
It is a known issue? That's new for them to say that and, that they are working on it. Good to hear. If we can believe it!
Started working again this morning. Fingers crossed that whatever fix they did sticks.
Yes, yes!
