Moving Thunderbird (including local folders + stored messages) from old pc to new pc

Your transfer was done with flaws, but I wasn't there to see it. My guess is you transferred while thunderbird was running, causing some folders to be locked and not transferred. It may be easier to repeat whatever you did, but first shut thunderbird down. When transferring the profile using the operating system's file software, all components transfer successfully.

I followed the online instructions, and ensured Thunderbird was shut down when I made the transfers. As noted earlier, I went via the Help tab to Troubleshooting Information. In Application Basics, the Profile Folder, when I click on Open Folder, the correct folder appears. It has all the Local Folder data present. I should note though, that the data is not in the /Mail/Local Folder. It is in the .default folder that I brought over from the old windows pc. This is how the old Thunderbird had stored the Local Folder information - not in the /Mail/Local Folder. Should I put the Local Folder files in the /Mail/Local Folder ? If so, which file types do I need to transfer ? I see .MSF file types with my Local Folder names, as well as other "File" type documents, again with the Local Folder names I am trying to bring from my old pc and it's Thunderbird application. I would have tried the .zip method, but my data took up about 15 gb, and the information provided indicated that transfers over 2 gb should be done via the manual file transfer method. Thanks

A guess: you stored local folders in a custom location. Perhaps you must now tell your new Thunderbird about that location.

Go to account settings, Local Folders, and check the storage location.
