Using Thunderbird 128.9.0esr (64-bit) in Win11. Occasionally when deleting emails from any folder, the contents of the folder completely disappear upon deleting the email. The messages all come back after restarting Tbird. It's difficult to reproduce on demand.

Please tell us, does the problem go away if you uncheck (automatic) "Compact all folders when it will save..." in Settings ?

I have been unable to reproduce the problem since yesterday. I did uncheck the box you described.
