The Google address book can be synced in TB with these two add-ons:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/installing-addon-thunderbird

Note that there is a bug that doesn't sync changes made in TB with the Google address book, but it does sync in the opposite direction, i.e. Google to TB.
