Hello, I would like to stop certain porn sites from playing videos in a window that they are able to open and hide behind the open window. This appears to be a major flaw to allow this. I do not know what this is called in the settings.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good ad / pop-up blocker.

fredmcd, I could use an add blocker but I also want to know how I can prevent a site opening windows without consent as well as the other menues that modzilla allows.

Many blockers can be set up as to what they block.

A good one is; https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/ uBlock Origin by Raymond Hill Finally, an efficient blocker. Easy on CPU and memory.

I had UBlock and I could not delete it whatever I tried. There are also sites that put up annoying buttons. Is this the only way?

Hello splash1,

A stab in the dark but would you check this please :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar media.autoplay.

and check these settings :

media.autoplay.enabled.user-gestures-needed = true

media.autoplay.ask-permission = true

media.autoplay.default = 0 [0=Allowed, 1=Blocked, 2=Prompt]

If you have to change anything, then close and restart Firefox.

If the above doesn't make a difference either, then maybe you could give this extension a try :
