Trying to leave original messages on the server. How do I configure this?
Using tools - account settings - synchronization, how do I configure the system so it leaves messages on the server?

It's actually under Tools > Account Settings > Your Account > Server Settings in the Leave messages on server section.
If you are using POP. If using IMAP leaving messages on the server is a given since IMAP is server based.
The fact that you mention Synchronization and Storage indicates you are using IMAP. There is no Leave on the Server option for IMAP. Only POP. You might want to Google IMAP vs POP to learn how the 2 protocols work and differ before you have any surprises.
I acknowledge, IMAP and POP operate on different protocol. Thanks to the senders of both previous messages. The problem is that since I set up Thunderbird, no new messages have appeared on the server of my account. IOW, what goes to Thunderbird or Blue Mail completely bypasses Blue Mail and goes to the clients.
My main issue is that I need the original to stay on the server so I can access it remotely, because I work out of the house a lot using the server, so I need those messages to stay. How can I ensure this?

I have no idea what the above means. Can you elaborate or be more specific?
