Go to View|Layout and enable Folder Columns. There you can select Unread, Total and Size. This will give you totals for accounts and/or folders, depending on whether the folders are collapsed or expanded.

You can select which columns are shown by either right-clicking on the Folder Columns "toolbar", or by clicking on the little button that looks like the smaller of the attached images.
