After upgrade to 45.0 Firefox says"my connection is not secure" when searching using GOOGLE in the toolbar.
After my upgrade to 45.0, whenever i try to do a search in the toolbar, I get the following error:
Your connection is not secure
The owner of www.google.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.
This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.
When I click the "ADVANCED" button, I get the following:
www.google.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported. Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER
This was never an issue, until the upgrade.

Not seeing anything suspicious. Last thing I installed was VLC media player a few days ago, and I made sure when doing the installation that it wasn't installing any "extras" But perhaps it did. I uninstalled it.
I made a change to the proxy settings, and that seems to have fixed the issue. I will however run a few malware detectors, to see if it finds anything.
Proxy settings are a very good thing to check! Were IE/Chrome using a local configuration file, alternate DNS, or how were the proxy settings getting in there?
I'm not sure how i.e. and chrome were set up, as i've not changed these settings in any of the browsers. I'm still running Malware bytes, which so far has found 11 item. Perhaps malware has messed up the google certifcate on all the browsers. More info when the scan has finished, as i'm not sure exactly what these found items are.

Both IE and Chrome share the Windows certificate store, while Firefox uses a separate file. Whatever was on your system inserted that Do Not Trust certificate into the Windows certificate store at some point, but failed to insert it into Firefox's certificate store. That's why your Chrome searches were hijacked but your Firefox searches were blocked.
