Could anybody help me? Since yesterday morning I have not been able to send or receive emails on Thunderbird.

I have two computers: a laptop and a desktop. On both of them I use Thunderbird as my main email service. On the desktop I also have MS Outlook. I am able to send and receive emails on the desktop on MS Outlook.

Error message on the desktop when I try to send a test email: Sending message failed. The message could not be sent because the Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.rushmore.com failed. The server may be unavailable or refusing SMTP connection. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

Error message on the laptop when I try to send a test email: You are about to override how Thunderbird identifies this site. Legitimate banks, stores, and other public sites will not ask you to do this. Location: mail.rushmore.com:587 [get certificate] This site attempts to identify itself with invalid information. Outdated information The certificate is not currently valid. It may have been stolen or lost, and could be used by someone to impersonate this site. [check] [Permanently store exception]

    [Confirm Security Exception] [Cancel]

Interestingly, yesterday I was receiving the same error message on the desktop computer, except the number under Location mail.rushmore.com: was different (not 587). I do not remember what this number was.

My current SMTP server settings: Server name: mail.rushmore.com Port: 465 (Default: 465) Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password User Name: halina@rushmore.com

(115.18.0 (64-bit); POP3) Cannot delete folders from app or profile & "About Profiles" shows the wrong profile. This started when I simply attempted to rename a folder in Thunderbird, and emails disappeared *remain in old folder. QUESTION: Can I safely simply set the correct profile as the default (lojbsrwp.default)? ISSUES: -Troubleshooting information shows incorrect profile Roaming/Thunderbird/ (no files since 2017); Settings shows path to correct profile. -Two Profiles showing in /Thunderbird; one appears current. -Profile show folders that do not appear in Thunderbird -Folders w/numbers at the end of file name keep duplicating when I delete, but don't disappear from either -Thunderbird & Profile. Can't delete multiple, duplicated folders. Folders with end-numbers don't match between Thunderbird and Profile. -Troubleshooting information/About profiles/Current: Root Directory & Local Directory show incorrect profile. -Troubleshooting information/About profiles/DefalutOLD: Root Directory & Local Directory shows current profile in use.

CANNOT get Thunderbird to stop putting messages in Junk folder.

I'm getting very frustrated with important emails being put in the junk folder. Nothing I have done prevents this behavior.

+ Sender is in address book + I have NO filters + Mail server does not have filters + Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account -- OFF + Trust junk mail headers set by: -- OFF + Move new junk messages to: -- OFF + Global junk settings

  When messages are marked as junk: -- OFF
  Mark messages as read
      When manually marked as junk -- OFF
      When Thunderbird determines that they are junk -- OFF

Enable adaptive junk filter logging -- OFF [ Reset Training Data ] -- pressed many times, no noticable effect

Thunderbird gives me the error "The current command did not succeed" if try to delete my junk folder.

I'm at my wits' end and ready to dump Thunderbird for something else. This is obnoxious and has caused me a lot of grief with missed important emails.

Is there a definitive way to turn this "feature" 100% off or is it time to ditch this app?

Today I still had some updates to do (some SNAP stuff I think) wiich I did. While using Thunderbird, I got a message that there was no space for my account (don't know why, since there's a lot of space available on the HDD).

I closed TB and opened again, and now I noticed that all emails from May to October are missing, on the 3 accounts that I have there!!!! What the hell happened? Is there any way to recover them?

Today I still had some updates to do (some SNAP stuff I think) wiich I did. While using Thunderbird, I got a message that there was no space for my account (don't know why, since there's a lot of space available on the HDD).

There is a significant delay when sending emails from a Gmail account. Messages consistently take approx. 2 minutes and 15 seconds to be sent. They are always delivered successfully after this delay.

I have triple-checked the settings and tried removing and re-adding the account, as well as clearing caches, but nothing seems to help. It appears to be a handshake issue with Google's SMTP server?!

Is there a way to debug the communication between Thunderbird and the SMTP server to see what exactly is happening during the send process?

I recently booted up a new installation of Thunderbird on a new laptop running Fedora Linux after my old Laptop running Ubuntu died. Fortunately, I had been regularly backing up the old machine with Deja Dup. I restored all my files from a recent backup. All my files seem to have been successfully recovered except that many locally-stored Thunderbird messages are missing, and some local folder names have been corrupted.

Since I see problems only with Thunderbird, I suspect the problem lies there rather than with Deja Dup.

Has anyone else had problems with restoring Thunderbird from backups? Is there something I might try to recover the missing messages and corrupted folders? Should I be using a different backup in the future?

Then after a day or so it forgets again. Why is it doing that? Is there a way to keep it set as a favorite forever? Thanks.

I got a message on the screen that says "cannot connect, invalid command" I contacted Tech Support at my email provider and insured that my incoming and outgoing server setting were correct, They were of course I have been using them for several years now and I did not recently change them. The tech said there was no problem on their end and that I should possibly contact thunderBkird tech support in case the App has been infected with a virus. Help!

Certain emails disappear and stop appearing in Thunderbird. I received an email that I read, but it disappeared after a few minutes. Resending the email causes the inbox to light up, indicating that an email has arrived, but there's no email in any folder. Antivirus/ISP software isn't blocking the network in any way; I can see these emails normally on the email website, but not in Thunderbird app.

I have no problem receiving e-mails via Yahoo.

I have another account set up under Thunderbird with a different e-mail provider and that works fine for both sending and receiving. I have tried various things but am at a loss as to what the problem is.

Hello,

where should I look as Thunderbird email client does not create the Sent Items folder on server when a new empty mail account is added and a mail is sent.

The sent mail is instead stored on local disk in Sent Items.

On the server side (postfix, dovecot) the mail folder is created under /var/mail/vhosts/domain/user where other items such as inbox is added and incoming mails are stored there. Sent items was just not created.

For comparison I tried the same with Apple Mail client and it added a 'Sent Items' folder under the server path, which if I manually set it in Thunderbird will be used correctly for sent mails.

What could go wrong as the server path /var/mail/vhosts/domain/user is correctly writable and the inbox can be created and also the apple client however creates also the sent items folder.

With some other servers with identical setup I have not had this issue.

A couple of days ago when I opened Thunderbird all of my emails in my Inbox before 18.10. where suddenly gone. All other files in my folders and trash are still there as far as I can tell.

First I thought they were moved but I can't find them anymore, they just vanished.

The inbox file in my profile folder is now 2MB in size, I have a backup from 2 years ago where it was 2,3GB so it must have been even bigger than that.

I believe there was a thunderbird update but it was so fast that I did not even notice at first.

I'm on windows 10 and thunderbird 144.0.1

I'm pretty sure my mails are gone, I was just wondering if anyone is in a similar situation and what could have caused this.
