Firefox crashes
Firefox crashes whenever I try and open the program. The white background covers the screen and and then disappears, replaced by the crash report window. I have fully updated Windows 7 and Firefox 8.0. Unfortunately I cannot start Firefox in safe mode, or retrieve a Crash ID.

Note also for future reference (This is not the first time Trusteer has caused problems so it may occur again)
- it is possible to disable Trusteer without uninstalling it as explained on their website.
- more info in /questions/893296
- and the kb article Firefox crashes when you open it is likely to be updated sometime to include specific reference to Trusteer

First of all ensure you update all software: Nectar, Firefox and if applicable Trusteer.
If you still have problems try uninstalling or at least disabling Nectar &/or Trusteer. See also firefox crashes. It should be possible to obtain crash IDs even if Firefox crashes before it opens.

You are not the first person to say you have problems with Nectar, it may be interesting to discover if it only crashes if you have both Nectar & Trusteer software installed and active, and which versions of the software you have. (I just recently replied to a post where I observed; someone suggested a new version of Trusteer software may solve certain crash problems relating to Trusteer Rapport software)
You were correct, it seems to be Rapport that is causing the crash. I managed to open in safe mode (once I knew you had to hold down shift) and it ran fine. I stopped Rapport and opened Firefox normally and it loaded fine. I then restarted Rapport and tried to open Firefox and the problem had returned.
I shall try to update Rapport and see whether this fixes the problem.
Thanks!

I have Firefox on my computer not trusteer or nectar. Like i said Fireox upgraded to 8.0 and now it will not start without crashing. The screen comes up not even a second and the Mozilla crash reporter comes up.
