The page from the HSBC bank when I look on the bottom right hand corner does not have the padlock to show that the site is fully secured. Has this changed with version 6.0.2.

Firefox was downloaded to my Mac Book Pro.

The padlock was removed when the Status Bar went away; it was removed beginning in Firefox 4. The padlock shows that there is a secure connection but does not supply additional information.
