For those of us who don't like tabbed browsing, can tabs be turned off completely?

In addition to the tab tool bar taking up space on the screen that could be used for viewing an additional line or two of web site content, it's often advantageous to see two web sites side by side.

By the way, screen clutter is not a problem. Just use larger windows and Alt-Tab between them.

Yes, you can do that if you like.

Go to Tools | Options | Tabs and uncheck "Open new windows in a new tab instead" and "Always show the tab bar".
