Why for about the last week has Thunderbird been crashing when drafting a message? Often it saves a portion of the in-progress drafting, but not always. What is the fix?

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

It's likely it's not crashing but is hanging. I believe you may be experiencing a bug.

Please do the following : In Thunderbird

  • Settings > General
  • scroll down to bottom
  • click the 'Config editor' button
  • It opens in a new tab
  • In search type: force
  • look for: accessibility.force_disabled
  • default has zero 0 setting
  • click on the pencil icon
  • Remove the zero and type : 1
  • click on the tick icon to save.

Please note it will disable accessibility features such as screen readers.

Then Restart Thunderbird

this seemed to have resolved the issue ... but more time will be required for confirmation. I would say, this is such a painful bug, busting at least 1/3 of my efforts to draft/send emails, Mozilla should put out a fix quickly. Grateful Regards to all/ John Tate

Thanks for your efforts.
