I'm managing some tasks for a club and try to set up a personal address book containing all the members. I found, that TB 128.4.2esr (64-Bit) silently ignores added members, like couples, who use the same mail address. The solution I tried is to add another address entry addressing both of them in the name field. Ending up with three entries in the general address book with identical mail addresses. Now, adding the entry with both names to the Personal Address Book doesn't show this entry but one of the other two with the same address. Any solution for this kind of (minor) problem? Thank you!

The email address is the same thing as your street address. So what you are trying to do is a 123 North Street Chicago three times to your address book and the address lookup will always pick the first one it finds in the all addresses list.

The first ting you need to do it turn of the use of the address book to show names in your mail lists.

The second is make a practice of using display names for couples that uses say only their surname, or even better nothing. That way the email address will be shown in the to, not as name at all.

The next thing is get used to using the mailmerge addon for sending emails to your list members. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/mail-merge/

You can use this addon to personalize the emails you send. So if you feel you must use their individual names you can include it in the body of the email.
