Old version of firefox keeps opening porn sites randomly
Hello. Im new to the Mozilla Support community
I am running a Japanese Windows XP SP3 on VMWare Workstation 16, i have downloaded a old version of firefox, due to newer versions not working on xp
And heres the issue: Firefox keeps opening tabs randomly which are related to pornographic websites like xxnx, pornhub, evilangel n' etc..
Heres things ive tried, but didnt work: -Install tdsskiller & scan -Scan with Avast Antivirus -Uninstalling Firefox and delete registry entries -Getting IE8 or G**gle Chr*me for Windows XP SP3
Any way to resolve this problem? i can't watch these things!

You did not say what version of Firefox and where you downloaded Firefox from
The last version to still support the EOL WinXP and Vista was Firefox 52.9.0esr.
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/ja/ https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/en-US/ https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/en-GB/
The official downloads do not come with any such porn links or malware. Also possible your vmware setup got infected in some way.

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no
Run most or all of the listed free to use malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

The Mypal is a third-party builds project based on another third-party project and both have no relation to Mozilla so use at your own risk.
Mozilla has disabled the ftp:// protocol on their servers for over six years now as the ftp://ftp.mozilla.org no longer works. The https://ftp.mozilla.org is not ftp.
After 8/5/15, ftp protocol support for ftp.mozilla.org will be completely disabled and downloads can only be accessed through http/https.
Other than a third-party contributed locale build of Firebird (second name before Firefox) way back in 2003? that was found to be infected as this was before Firefox releases had other locales besides mainly English as of 1.0 and on. None of the Firefox builds from Mozilla have ever been found to be infected as it would have been news all around if it were the case. Sure there has been lots of false-positives by some certain antivirus scanners though.
